The Astrology of the East varies greatly from the astrology often used in the West. The eastern system is an ancient astrology known in Sanskrit as "Jyotish" which means "Knowledge of Light". It is based upon wisdom and science that relates to the functions of our known universe.
Moreover, Vedic Astrology demands that one pay attention to the fluid changes that take place in each given birth chart over one's lifetime. Each person than can be responsive to "which planet is ruling a certain period of time in his/her life" and act accordingly by choosing the gemstone which magnifies or conversely, counteracts, certain aspects of his/her physical life experiences.
The astrology usually used in the West was accurate perhaps 2,000 years ago, but became fixed and does not account for the Earth's speed of rotation and orbit, the movement of the planets through the Zodiac, and is based on the position of the Sun in relation to earth. Any system so fixed and unable to be fluid with the ever changing movement and motion of the celestial bodies would then become inaccurate as a gauge, explanation, and predictor of each individual's life experience through space and time.
The eastern system recognizes that astrological gems found in our Earth contain unique planetary powers; each gem being related to a particular planet. The planets emit light rays which are radiated into the earth and are measurable. White Light, as we know, is broken down into seven primary colors and two secondary colors which are blended together. It is through these colors that planets radiate their energy and influence.
The images in this series use only the ruling planet's primary gemstone. There are many secondary gemstones that can be chosen which are "attractive" to the energy and power of the planet involved.
